Our name is taken from the iconic Salts Mill in Yorkshire, with a deep connection to one of the founders, whose first made-to-measure venture began there - in the very place where the legendary Titus Salt built his visionary textile mill and village, still inspiring us today.

This sentiment lies at the heart of our brand, for just as the visionary Titus Salt managed every stage of textile creation under one roof — from fibre to fabric — he also built an entire village for his workers called Saltaire - even naming a street after himself. Our cashmere supply partners follow the same unique tradition, crafting the world’s finest pieces from goat to garment with responsibility and care for the people and community that make it.
The other connection to Salts Mill — and the inspiration behind our first collection — and a true Yorkshireman: David Hockney. Much of his work is displayed at the Mill.
A huge influence on me in my early days as an art and fashion student, and still just as inspiring today.
Some of our colours are inspired from his paintings, but also from his trademark style: a love of bold colour, from bright knits to rugby stripes to the classic French Breton — all effortless, always timeless, and cool as f**k.
