At SALTS, we truly value the close relationships we’ve built with our supply partners. Every step of our cashmere journey—from source to finished garment—is carefully looked after.
All of our cashmere and cashmere blends are made in Inner Mongolia—and for good reason. The region’s harsh, icy winters help produce some of the world’s finest cashmere. As the temperatures begin to rise, the goats naturally start shedding their coats, and that’s when local herdsmen gently comb and collect the soft undercoat by hand.
We work with a fully vertical manufacturer, which means every step of the process—right from the raw fibre to the finished garment—is handled under one roof by the same family-run business. This family has built close, decades-long relationships with the herdsmen who raise the white Hanshan goats, giving them first access to the highest-quality fibres.
The white Hanshan goat is a rare breed known for producing fine, long cashmere fibres—prized by some of the most luxurious cashmere brands in the world. To ensure their future, sustainable grazing practices are put in place, including barn feeding in winter and rotational grazing in summer to protect and regenerate the grasslands.
The factory also takes its environmental impact seriously. Water used in washing and dyeing is purified before being returned to the land, supporting the local ecosystem. They’ve even introduced a regeneration process that gives new life to leftover fibres. Using a certified Global Recycled Standard (GRS) method, they blend recycled and new cashmere to ensure quality and durability—helping reduce waste while maintaining the softness cashmere is known for.
